Third grade is a very important time in your child’s education because it’s when students transition from “lower elementary” to “upper elementary.” It is a crucial period in students’ learning as they become more independent and mature learners. In third grade, students progress from practicing basic skills to mastering them. Third graders begin to develop more complex skills. Your child will become a savvier reader, writer, mathematician, and problem solver this year. They will dig deeper into topics and analyze what they learn.

Religion
Deepen relationship with God while having a better understanding of the life of Christ, our salvation, and the Church as the Body of Christ.
English & Language Arts
Read longer stories and chapter books with expression and comprehension;
write in a variety of genres (e.g., friendly letter, personal narrative, informational text);
review and edit writing; write neatly in cursive.
Mathematics
Review double digit addition and subtraction, and then move into the exciting world of multiplication and division! After that, fractions, a review of time, and measurement.
Science
Forces and motion, weather and climate, animal survival and heredity, plant life cycles
Social Studies
Study of the history of Michigan. Learn about it’s early settlers, it’s immigrants, products made here, and it’s early economy.
