I graduated from Michigan State University with degrees in Graphic Design and Environmental Science & Sustainability, and my experiences have allowed me to blend creativity with STEM in everything I teach.Over the past several years, I’ve worked as a scientist and teacher! From teaching science and sailing in Grand Rapids, to scuba diving and planting endangeredcorals on reefs in the Florida Keys. I value adventure, travel, and trying new things! Most recently, I have been teaching at the Van Andel Institute for Education, creating hands-on STEM learning experiences that I look forward to bringing into both the art and technology classrooms. I believe artists and scientists have a lot in common—they ask questions, solve problems, experiment, and learn from mistakes. My goal is to create a classroom (or “Art Lab”) where students feel inspired to explore, take creative risks, build confidence, and discover their unique talents.
